Assistance, insurance, traffic information

The obligation to call the police to the accident site is when:

• the extent of damage of one of the vehicles including the transported goods exceeds the ammount of 100 000 Kč (the extent of damage do not sum up, always the particular vehicle is impeached);
• when injury is caused;
• when death of accident participants is caused;

• when damage on the third party´s property is caused (e.g. fence,  parked car, transported goods); ATTENTION: this is not supposed when a car purchased with leasing credit, in case it´s been driven with thee agreement of the owner or holder

• When a damage of a part or facility of the road communication (e.g. of the tradic signs, traffic frameworks – overpasses, etc.) has been caused; the financial limit is indiferent in these cases;

• When the accident parties (without supposing the extent of damage) cannot ensure reconditioning of the fluent traffic stream by themselves.

HOWEVER, PLEASE MIND!

• In case the accident partries cannot make an agreement about the scale of blame, is not a reason entitled by law to call the Police;  however, coming of the police shouldn´t be charged).
• In case the Police has been asked to come to the accident site, sign the police report onlyl in case you do agree with it´s results. In any other case mark your own statement about the accident (even abroad write in Czech or your native language).
• Immediatelly stop the vehicle and ensure the accident site (put the warning lights on and place the warning triangle). Within all those activities on the accident site always take  your security into consideration – the traffic still goes on!
• In case anyone has been injured provide first aid if possible and always call the Medical emergency (155), the Fire Rescue Service (150), the Police (158) or the European emergency number (112).
• The Police of Czech Republic must be informed about every accident,when:

  1.      An injury or death was caused, or

  2.      A property damage exceeding 100 000 Kč has been caused (on each vehicle including the transported ware), or

  3.      A damage of a part or facility of the road communication (e.g. of the tradic signs, traffic frameworks – overpasses, etc.) has been caused; the financial limit is indiferent in these cases, or

  4.      The drivers cannot ensure reconditioning of the fluent traffic stream by themselves

  5.      A third party´s property damage has been caused, excluding the damage of the driver´s vehicle or the transported goods, or

  6.      The drivers do not agree on the relevant circumstances it is recommended the police to be called (coming of the police to the accident site shouldn´t be/isn´t charged)

• In case the accident was reported to the police, sign the police report only in case you do agree with it´s outcome. In other case  note down your own statement about the accident or your objections about the police´s proceeding (even in a foreign country write it in Czech language).
• Especially do not consume any alcoholic beverage or other narcotics after the acccident, until the police could accuse you of consuming it before or during the accident.
• In case you need to ensure reconditioning of the traffic stream fluency, you can remove the vehicles from the roadway in the following cases:

  a)      The accident has been reported to the police and you have marked the final position of the vehicles with spray, chalk, sand, etc. (for better proving of the accident cause make your own photodocumentation from the accident scene);

  b)      You have agreed with the other drivers on removing the vehicles.

• Note the plate number, VIN (17 signs vehicle identification number (code), mark and type of the vehicles, names, residence and telefone numbers of the other drivers, names and residence of the vehicles´ owners, and the data from the insurrance policy (green card number, akcident insurance policy number, name of the underwriter, green card validity). Note the names, addresses and phone numbers of the witnesses if any.

• In case you don´t report the accident to the police it is neccessary to fill in the accident statement with the other driver, which will include the identification details about the time and place of the collision and drivers, the cause, process and consequences. For this purpose fill in the Accident statement, which should be signed by all drivers involved in the accident. This document includes all neccessary information needed for reporting the accident. The points in the document are of the same meaning in all language variations, so you can fill it even with foreigners. ATTENTTION: before separating the pages, make sure that everything has been filled and signed an all pages. After separating the sheets it is no more possible to fill any other information, the pages wouldn´t be the same. To do more than the above mentioned try to make documentation from the accident scene and the damage:

  -          By making photos from the accident site, of the damaged ware

  -          Finding witnesses of the accident (names, contacts)

• In case your car is immobile after the accident always contact the assistance company of your insurance. In case you have caused the accident you have an assistance service included in your insurance policy (your third party liability). The Accident insurance covers the towing service for the immobile car. The phone number of your assistance company should be mentioned on your assistance card (attatched to your third party liability or accident insurance), or in the assistance driver´s set, or on a sticker in your vehicle, or directly call SOS 1229/ the line for motorists. Always keep on mind that you have the right for coverage of the assistance services from the third party liability – the insurance of the driver who caused the accident. Call the assistance company of your insurance even if you are not sure about the following procedures after the accident. Never accept any services offered by third parties appeared on the accident site and have no agreement with your insurer or assistance company, or the contractual assistance companies of the others driver.
• Please make sure that the filled accident statement reaches the Insurance company as soon as possible/immediatelly.
• In case you are not aware of the insurance policy number of the faulty driver, please contact the Czech Insurers’ Bureau (www.ckp.cz).
